FIWARE  Global Summit

The FIWARE Global Summit 2024 in Naples brought together key players from industry, research, and government to explore the latest advancements in digital technologies. This high-profile event is a cornerstone for innovation in smart cities, digital services, and e-government, where the FIWARE ecosystem plays a critical role. FIWARE’s suite of APIs provides open standards for building smart applications, enabling interoperability across systems and supporting scalable, cost-effective solutions for both public and private sectors.

At the summit, ACES presented its advanced Edge-as-a-Service (EaaS) platform, ACES-EDGE, which integrates AI, machine learning, and the innovative concept of swarm intelligence. This allows the platform to orchestrate data processing, storage, telecommunications, and data capture resources dynamically and autonomously. Designed as a high-performance and cost-efficient alternative to centralised cloud solutions, ACES-EDGE is tailored for handling data-intensive applications at the edge, with a particular focus on e-government services and digital services of collective interest.

The presentation highlighted how edge computing, integrated with the FIWARE ecosystem, can revolutionise public services by providing real-time data processing, enhancing service quality, and optimising resource use. The strong industry presence and focus on real-world applications provided an excellent platform for knowledge sharing, reinforcing the importance of edge technologies in the future of digital service delivery.
