HiPEAC 2025 Conference: CARO Workshop by DECICE and ACES
Edge-cloud Cognitive Architectures and Resources Orchestration (CARO)
The proposed workshop originates from the two EU-funded projects, DECICE and ACES, which focus on cutting-edge solutions for the cognitive Edge-Cloud continuum. Both target the wider community of Horizon Europe cognitive cloud research and innovation actions.
The EUCloudEdgeIoT.eu (EUCEI) initiative aims to establish a pathway for understanding and developing the Cloud, Edge, and IoT Continuum by promoting cooperation among a broad range of EU research projects.
The aim is to present, share, and discuss advanced solutions currently under development or recently finalised, both within Horizon Europe and beyond. These solutions are focused on designing a flexible and powerful architecture to orchestrate and manage compute and storage resources in the Cloud-Edge-IoT continuum.
The event will be an interactive workshop where expert attendees will present and discuss the EUCEI Architecture standardisation effort and its implementation for intelligent distributed-edge-cloud orchestration. The event will involve brainstorming to refine the EUCEI architecture concerning a) digital sovereignty enabled by decentralised federated orchestration; b) trust, transparency, and explainability in the intelligent orchestrator(s); and c) available open-source tools and standards.
The outcomes of the workshop will be published in a HiPEAC white paper following the event.
The workshop is organised by
Fred Buining
(HIRO-MicroDataCenters BV) founder and CTO of HIRO.
HIRO is developing powerful edge cloud as a service, capable of processing big data and AI on-/ near premise independent from distant cloud providers and is involved in the European projects: Glaciation, ACES, VERGE, MYRTUS, SYCLOPS.
Sabri Pllana is Director of the Centre for Smart Computing Continuum at Forschung
